BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Cory J. High is a South Carolina based musician, serving as professor of percussion at Newberry College and Claflin University. He also founded HighSeas Media, a company dedicated to academic music advocacy.
Dr. High’s professional achievements include PASIC spotlight performances, receiving top awards at international marimba competitions, and performing with notable orchestras throughout the southeast. He is currently continuing his doctoral research in lute transcriptions by publishing unexplored compositions. In addition, Dr. High has directed multiple media projects with the USC Percussion Ensemble, Nancy Zeltsman, and the Allen University Percussion Ensemble.
Dr. Cory J. High received degrees from The University of Florida (B.M.E.), Lee University (M.M.), and The University of South Carolina (D.M.A.) He is proudly endorsed by Innovative Percussion, Remo, Grover Pro Percussion, and Sabian.
Biography
Dr. Cory J. High is a South Carolina based musician, serving as Director of Percussion Studies at Winthrop University and Newberry College. He also co-founded HighSeas Media, a company dedicated to academic music advocacy through professional audio and video recordings.
Cory’s performance accomplishments include being regularly featured as a soloist throughout the Southeastern United States, premiering a number of self-transcribed Baroque lute compositions, and performing with the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also collaborated extensively with Wildlight Publications as a marimbist for multiple studio recordings. In addition, Dr. High has served as Director of Photography & Video Editor for collaborative projects with the USC Percussion Ensemble, Duo Plygas, the Allen University Percussion Ensemble, and Nancy Zeltsmant.
Dr. High is a Malletech Artist and SABIAN Educator, and holds degrees from the University of South Carolina (DMA), Lee University (MM), and the University of Florida (BME).
